Within 60 second s of starting the vehicle, unbu ckle
Pregnant women shou ld wear the lap part of the belt
across the thighs and as snu g across the hip s as possible.
Keep the belt low so that it does not come across the
abd omen. That way the strong bones of the hip s will take 2
the force if there is a collision.
and then re-bu ckle the driver’s seat belt at least three
times within 10 second s, end ing with the seat belt
buckled .
NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn on
while unbu ckling and off while re-bu ckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
Seat Belt Extender
If a seat belt is too short, even when fully extend ed and
when the adjustable upper shou lder belt anchorage (if so
equ ipped) is in its lowest position, you r dealer can
provid e you with a seat belt extend er. This extend er
shou ld be used only if the existing belt is not long
enou gh. When it is not requ ired , rem ove the extend er
and store it.

Usin g a seat belt exten der when not need ed can
increase the risk of injury in a collision . Only use
when the seat belt is not lon g enough when it is
worn low and snug, and in the recom mended seatin g
position s. Rem ove and store the exten der when not
need ed.
Seat Belts and Pregnant Women
We recom mend that pregnant women use the seat belts
throu ghou t their pregnancy. Keeping the mother safe is
the best way to keep the baby safe.
