THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Child ren that are not big enou gh to prop erly wear the
vehicle seat belt (see section on “Child Restraint”) shou ld
be secured in the rear seat in child restraints or belt-
positioning booster seats.

Alw ays wear you r seat belts even though you
have airb ags.
Old er child ren who do not use child restraints or belt-
positioning booster seats shou ld rid e prop erly buckled
up in the rear seat. Never allow child ren to slide the
shou lder belt behind them or und er their arm .

Bein g too close to the steerin g wheel or instru -
ment panel durin g airb ag deploym ent could cause
seriou s injury. Airb ags need room to inflate. Sit
back, comfortab ly exten ding you r arm s to reach
the steerin g wheel or instru ment panel.
If a child from 1 to 12 years old must rid e in the front
passenger seat becau se the vehicle is crow ded, move the
seat as far back as possible, and use the prop er child
restraint. See the section on “Child Restraint”.
