Body Mechanism Lubrication
Locks and all bod y pivot points, inclu ding such item s as
seat tracks, doors,liftgate and hood hinges, shou ld be
lubricated period ically to assu re quiet, easy operation
and to protect against rust and wear. Prior to the appli-
cation of any lubricant, the parts concerned shou ld be
wiped clean to rem ove dust and grit; after lubricating
excess oil and grease shou ld be rem oved . Particu lar
attention shou ld also be given to hood latching compo-
nents to insu re prop er function. When perform ing other
und erhood services, the hood latch, release mechanism
and safety catch shou ld be cleaned and lubricated .
Fluid level shou ld be maintained at the prop er level
ind icated on the side of the reservoir. If necessary, add
fluid to restore the prop er ind icated level. With a clean
cloth, wipe any spilled fluid from all surfaces. Refer to
Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu ine Parts for
correct fluid typ e.
The external lock cylind ers shou ld be lubricated twice a 7
year, preferably in the fall and spring. Apply a small
amount of a high quality lubricant such as Mop ar Lock
Cylind er Lubricant directly into the lock cylind er.
Hood Latch
When perform ing other und er hood services, the hood
latch release mechanism and safety catch shou ld be
insp ected , cleaned , and lubricated .
Suspension Ball Joints
There are two upper front and rear suspension ball joints.
Insp ect these ball joints whenever und er vehicle service is
done. If the seals are damaged , the ball joint shou ld be
rep laced .
It is important to maintain prop er lubrication to insu re
that the hood mechanism s work prop erly and safely.
