ADDING FUEL
NOTE: Tighten the gas cap until you hear a “clicking”
sou nd . This is an ind ication that the gas cap is prop erly
tightened .
Fuel Filler Cap (Gas Cap)
The gas cap is behind the fuel filler door, on the driver’s
side of the vehicle. If the gas cap is lost or damaged , be
sure the rep lacem ent cap is for use with this vehicle.
The Malfu nction Ind icator Light will come on if the
gas cap is not prop erly secured . Make sure that the gas
cap is tightened each time the vehicle is refu eled .
NOTE: When the fuel nozzle “clicks” or shu ts off, the
fuel tank is full.
CAUTIO N!
Damage to the fuel system or emission control
system could resu lt from usin g an improp er fuel
tan k filler tube cap (gas cap). A poorly fittin g cap
could let impurities into the fuel system .
NOTE: The fuel tank filler tube may have a restricting
door abou t 50 mm (2 inches) down from the opening. If
fuel is poured from a portable container, the container
shou ld have a flexible nozzle long enou gh to force open
the restricting door.

To avoid fuel spillage and overfillin g, do not “top
off” the fuel tan k after fillin g.
A poorly fittin g gas cap may cause the Malfu nction
Indicator Lamp to turn on.
