The nylon airbag material may som etim es cause abra-
sions and / or skin red dening to the driver and right
front passenger as the airbags deploy and unfold . The
abrasions are similar to friction rop e burns or those
you might get sliding along a carp et or gym nasiu m
floor. They are not caused by contact with chem icals.
They are not perm anent and norm ally heal quickly.
However, if you haven’t healed significantly within a
few days, or if you have any blistering, see you r doctor
immediately.

Deployed airb ags can’t protect you in anoth er colli-
sion . Have the airb ags rep laced by an authorized
dealer as soon as possib le.
As the airbags deflate you may see som e smoke-like
particles. The particles are a norm al by-p rod uct of the
process that generates the nontoxic gas used for airbag
inflation. These airborne particles may irritate the skin,
eyes, nose, or throat. If you have skin or eye irritation,
rinse the area with cool water. For nose or throat
irritation, move to fresh air. If the irritation continu es,
see you r doctor. If these particles settle on you r
clothing, follow the garm ent manu factu rer’s instru c-
tions for cleaning.
Sid e Airb ag System
The airbag control module determ ines if a side collision is
severe enou gh to requ ire the airbag to inflate. The control
module receives the level of collision severity from the
side impact sensors. The airbag control module will not
detect rollover or rear impacts.
