3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and pas-
sengers from XXX kilogram s or XXX pound s.
4.
The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo
and luggage load capacity. For example, if “XXX” amount
equals 1400 lbs. and there will be five 150 lb. passengers in
your vehicle, the amount of available cargo and luggage
load capacity is 650 lb. (1400–750 (5 x 150) = 650 lb.)
NOTE: Und er a maxim um load ed vehicle cond ition,
gross axle weight ratings (GAWR’s) for the front and rear
axles must not be exceed ed. For further inform ation on
GAWR’s, vehicle load ing and trailer tow ing, see the
Vehicle Load ing section of this manu al.
5. Determ ine the combined weight of luggage and cargo 5
being load ed on the vehicle. That weight may not safely
exceed the available cargo and luggage load capacity
calculated in step 4.
To determ ine the maxim um load ing cond itions of you r
vehicle, locate the statem ent “The combined weight of
occupants and cargo shou ld never exceed XXXkg or XXX
lbs.” on the Tire and Load ing Inform ation placard . The
combined weight of occupants, cargo/ luggage and
trailer tongu e weight (if applicable) shou ld never exceed
the weight referenced here.
6. If you r vehicle will be tow ing a trailer, load from you r
trailer will be transferred to you r vehicle. Consu lt this
manu al to determ ine how this red uces the available
cargo and luggage load capacity of you r vehicle.
Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit
NOTE: The follow ing table show s exam ples on how to
calculate total load , cargo/ luggage and tow ing capacities
of you r vehicle with varying seating configu rations and
nu mber and size of occupants. This table is for illustra-
tion purposes only and may not be accurate for the
seating and load carry capacity of you r vehicle.
1.
Locate the statem ent “The combined weight of occu-
