CAUTIO N!
Do not place any extern al magn ets, such as magn etic
roof mount anten nas, in the vicin ity of the compass.
Do not use magn etic tools when servicin g the over-
head console.
Manual Com pass Calib ration
If the compass appears erratic and the “CAL” sym bol
does not appear, you must put the compass into the
Calibration Mod e manu ally.
Com pass Varian ce
To put into a Calib ration Mode: Turn on the ignition
switch and set the display to Com p/ Temp. Press the
RESET button on vehicles equ ipped with a Com pass/
Mini Trip Com puter for at least 10 second s until the
“CAL” sym bol appears. On vehicles equ ipped with
Com pass/ Temp press and hold the C/ T and US/ M
buttons for 10 second s. Release the RESET button and
complete three 360° turns in an area free from large metal
objects. The “CAL” sym bol will turn off and the compass
will function norm ally.
Com pass Variance is the difference betw een magnetic
North and Geograp hic North. In som e areas of the
country, the difference betw een magnetic and geograp hic
North is great enou gh to cause the compass to give false
read ings. If this occurs, the compass variance must be set.
NOTE: Magnetic materials shou ld be kep t away from
the overhead console.
