Automatic Transmission
The autom atic transm ission and differential assem bly are
contained within a single hou sing.
CAUTIO N!
Usin g a tran smission flu id oth er than the manufac-
turers recom mended flu id may cause deterioration
in tran smission shift quality and/or torq ue converter
shudder. Usin g a tran smission flu id oth er than the
manufactu rers recom mended flu id will resu lt in
more freq uent flu id and filter changes. Refer to
Recom mended Fluids, Lubrican ts and Genuine Parts
for correct flu id typ e.
All autom atic transm issions are equ ipped with a conven-
tional filler tube and dipstick. If fluid is added, it shou ld
be added throu gh the dipstick hole in the case.
The dipstick is located just behind the rad iator, lower
right side.
Selection of Lubrican t
It is important that the prop er lubricant is used in the
transm ission to assu re optimum transm ission perfor-
mance. Use only manu factu rers recom mend ed transm is-
sion fluid, refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants and
Genu ine Parts for correct fluid typ e. It is important that
the transm ission fluid be maintained at the prescribed
level using the recom mend ed fluid.
