TOWING A DISABLED VEHICLE

Fast spinning tires can be dangerou s. Forces gen er-
ated by excessive wheel speed s may cause tire dam-
age or failu re. A tire could explod e and injure
som eon e. Do not spin you r veh icle’s wheels faster
than 35 mph (55 km/h) when you are stu ck. And
don’t let anyon e near a spinning wheel, no matter
what the speed .
Fron t Wheel Drive
Your vehicle may be tow ed und er the follow ing cond i-
tions: The gear selector must be in NEUTRAL, the dis-
tance to be traveled must not exceed 100 miles (160 km),
and the tow ing speed must not exceed 44 mph (72 km/ h).
Exceeding these tow ing limits may cause a transm ission
geartrain failure. If the transaxle is not operative, or if the
vehicle is to be tow ed more than 100 miles (160 km), the
vehicle must be tow ed with the front wheels off the
grou nd .

vehicle must be tow ed farther or at a higher rate of speed,
it must be transp orted on a flat bed tru ck.
Racin g the engin e or spinning the wheels too fast
may lead to tran smission overh eatin g and failu re. It
can also damage the tires. Do not spin the wheels
above 35 mph (55 km/h).
