Tread Wear Indicators
Many states have law s requ iring tire rep lacem ent at this
point.
Tread wear ind icators are in the original equ ipment tires
to help you in determ ining when you r tires shou ld be
rep laced .
Replacement Tires
The tires on you r new vehicle provid e a balance of many
characteristics. They shou ld be insp ected regu larly for
wear and correct cold tire inflation pressu re. The manu -
factu rer strongly recom mend s that you use tires equ iva-
lent to the originals in size, quality and perform ance
when rep lacem ent is need ed (see the paragrap h on tread
wear ind icators). Refer to the Tire and Load ing Inform a-
tion placard for the size designation of you r tire. The
service descrip tion and load identification will be found
on the original equ ipment tire. Failu re to use equ ivalent
rep lacem ent tires may adversely affect the safety, han-
dling, and rid e of you r vehicle. We recom mend that you
contact you r original equ ipment or an authorized tire
dealer with any questions you may have on tire specifi-
cations or capability.
These ind icators are molded into the bottom of the tread
grooves and will appear as band s when the tread depth
becom es 1/ 16 inch (2 mm). When the ind icators appear
in 2 or more adjacent grooves, the tire shou ld be rep laced .
