If necessary, add fluid to restore to the prop er ind icated
level. With a clean cloth, wipe any spilled fluid from all
surfaces. Refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants, and
Genu ine Parts for correct fluid typ e.
Steering Linkage
The tie rod end ball joints are perm anently lubricated and
do not requ ire period ic maintenance.
Drive Shaft Universal Joints
Front Suspension Ball Joints
Your vehicle has constant velocity universal joints. Peri-
odic lubrication of these joints is not requ ired . However,
the joint boots shou ld be insp ected for external leakage or
damage when other maintenance is perform ed. If leakage
or damage is evid ent, the universal joint boot and grease
shou ld be rep laced immediately.
The front suspension ball joints are perm anently sealed .
No regu lar maintenance is requ ired for these compo-
nents.
Steering Shaft Seal
The steering shaft seal, at the point where the shaft passes
throu gh the bulkhead , is lubricated when it is installed . If
the seal becom es noisy when the steering shaft is turned ,
it shou ld be lubricated . Use only manu factu rers recom -
mend ed lubricant, refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubri-
cants and Genu ine Parts for correct lubricant typ e.
Continu ed operation could resu lt in failu re of the univer-
sal joint due to water and dirt contam ination of the 7
grease. This would requ ire complete rep lacem ent of the
joint assem bly.
