Coolan t Checks
from the rad iator drain cock. If the cap is sealing prop -
erly, the coolant will begin to drain from the coolant
recovery bottle. DO NOT REMOVE THE COOLAN T
PRESSURE CAP WHEN THE COOLIN G SYSTEM IS
HOT.
Coolant protection checks shou ld be made every 12
months (prior to the onset of freezing weather, where
applicable). If coolant is dirty or rusty in appearance, the
system shou ld be drained , flushed and refilled with fresh
coolant. Check the front of the A/ C cond enser for any
accumulation of bugs, leaves, etc. If dirty, clean by
rem oving the upper grill support and gently spraying
water from a gard en hose vertically down the face of the
cond enser.
Coolin g System — Drain , Flush and Refill
At the intervals show n in the maintenance sched ules, the
system shou ld be drained , flushed and refilled .
If the solu tion is dirty or contains a consid erable amount
of sed iment, clean and flush with a reliable cooling
system cleaner. Follow with a thorou gh rinsing to rem ove
all deposits and chem icals. Prop erly dispose of old
antifreeze solu tion.
Check the coolant recovery bottle tubing for brittle rub-
ber, cracking, tears, cuts and tightness of the connection
at the bottle and rad iator. Insp ect the entire system for
leaks.

With the engine at norm al operating tem peratu re (but
not running), check the coolant pressu re cap for prop er
vacu um sealing by draining a small amount of coolant
Use only the manu factu rers recom mend ed coolant, refer
to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants and Genu ine Parts
for correct coolant typ e.
