shifttothenextlowergearifthe
engineRPMistoohigh,nortothe
nexthighergearwhenthemaximum
engineRPMisreached.
FuelEconomyMode
Whenfueleconomymodeison:

Thetransmission willupshift
sooner,anddownshift  later.
Thevehiclemayhaveafuel
economymode.Whenengaged,
fueleconomymodecanimprove
thevehicle's fueleconomy.

Thetorqueconverter  will
lock–upsooner,andstayon
longer.

Thegaspedalwillbeless
sensitive.
Ifshifting isprevented forany
reason,thecurrently  selected gear
willflashmultipletimes,indicating
thatthetransmission  hasnotshifted
gears.
Thevehicle's computers will
moreaggressively shutofffuel
totheengineunderdeceleration.
WhileintheDSCmode,the
transmission willautomatically
downshift whenthevehiclecomes
toastop.Thiswillallowformore
powerduringtake-off.
Pressing theecobuttonbytheshift
leverwillengagefueleconomy
mode.Whenactivated,  theecolight
intheinstrument  clusterwillcome
on.SeeFuelEconomyLight   on
page 4‑27.Pressing thebuttona
secondtimewillturnfueleconomy
modeoff.
Whenaccelerating thevehiclefrom
astopinsnowyandicyconditions,
youmaywanttoshiftintosecond
gear.Ahighergearratioallowsyou
togainmoretraction  onslippery
surfaces.
