Tohelpavoidinjuries toyouand
others,readandfollowallthe
instructions onthefuelpump
island.Turnofftheenginewhen
refueling. Donotsmokenearfuel
orwhenrefueling thevehicle. Do
notusecellular phones.Keep
sparks,flames,andsmoking
materials awayfromfuel.Donot
leavethefuelpumpunattended
whenrefueling thevehicle. Thisis
againstthelawinsomeplaces.
Donotre-enter thevehiclewhile
pumpingfuel.Keepchildrenaway
fromthefuelpump;neverlet
childrenpumpfuel.
Fuelcansprayoutonyouifyou
openthefuelcaptooquickly.
Ifyouspillfuelandthen
something ignitesit,youcouldbe
badlyburned.Thisspraycan
happenifthetankisnearlyfull,
andismorelikelyinhotweather.
Openthefuelcapslowlyandwait
foranyhissnoisetostop.Then
unscrewthecapalltheway.
Thetethered fuelcapislocated
behindahingedfueldooronthe
passenger sideofthevehicle.
Toopenthefueldoor,pushthe
rearward centeredgeinandrelease
anditwillopen.
Becarefulnottospillfuel.Donot
topofforoverfill thetankandwaita
fewsecondsafteryouhavefinished
pumpingbeforeremoving the
nozzle.Cleanfuelfrompainted
surfaces assoonaspossible. See
Exterior Careonpage9‑109.
Toremovethefuelcap,turnit
slowlycounterclockwise.
Whilerefueling, hangthetethered
fuelcapfromthehookonthe
fueldoor.
Whenreinstalling thecap,turnit
clockwise untilitclicksonce,
otherwise theMalfunction Indicator
Whenreplacing thefuelcap,turn
itclockwise untilitclicksonce.
Makesurethecapisfullyinstalled.
