ThisvehiclehasanEventData
Recorder (EDR).Themainpurpose
ofanEDRistorecord,incertain
crashornearcrash-like situations,
suchasanairbagdeployment or
hittingaroadobstacle, datathatwill
assistinunderstanding howa
vehicle's systemsperformed. The
EDRisdesigned torecorddata
relatedtovehicledynamics and
safetysystemsforashortperiodof
time,typically 30secondsorless.
TheEDRinthisvehicleisdesigned
torecordsuchdataas:
Important: EDRdataisrecorded
byyourvehicleonlyifanon-trivial
crashsituation occurs;nodatais
recorded bytheEDRundernormal
drivingconditions andnopersonal
data(e.g.,name,gender,age,and
crashlocation) isrecorded.
However,otherparties, suchaslaw
enforcement, couldcombinethe
EDRdatawiththetypeof
YourGMvehiclehasanumberof
sophisticated computers thatrecord
information aboutthevehicle’s
performance andhowitisdriven.
Forexample, yourvehicleuses
computermodulestomonitorand
controlengineandtransmission
performance, tomonitorthe
conditions forairbagdeployment
anddeployairbagsinacrashand,
ifsoequipped, toprovideantilock
brakingtohelpthedrivercontrolthe
vehicle. Thesemodulesmaystore
datatohelpyourdealer/retailer
technician serviceyourvehicle.
Somemodulesmayalsostoredata
abouthowyouoperatethevehicle,
suchasrateoffuelconsumption or
averagespeed.Thesemodulesmay
alsoretaintheowner’ spersonal
preferences, suchasradiopre-sets,
seatpositions, andtemperature
settings.
