Holdthebottomofthesteering
wheelwithonehand.Tomovethe
trailertotheleft,movethathandto
theleft.Tomovethetrailer tothe
right,moveyourhandtotheright.
Alwaysbackupslowlyand,
ifpossible, havesomeone
Theturnsignalindicators onthe
instrument panelflashwhenever
signaling aturnorlanechange.
Properly hookedup,thetrailer
lampsalsoflash,tellingother
driversthevehicleisturning,
changing lanesorstopping.
Whentowingathighaltitude on
steepuphillgrades,enginecoolant
boilsatalowertemperature thanat
normalaltitudes. Iftheengineis
turnedoffimmediately aftertowing
athighaltitude onsteepuphill
grades,thevehiclecouldshow
signssimilartoengineoverheating.
Toavoidthis,lettheenginerun
whileparked,preferably onlevel
ground,withthetransmission in
P(Park)forafewminutesbefore
turningtheengineoff.Ifthe
guideyou.
MakingTurns
Whentowingatrailer,thearrowson
theinstrument panelflashforturns
evenifthebulbsonthetrailerare
burnedout.Checkoccasionally to
besurethetrailer bulbsarestill
working.
Notice: Makingverysharpturns
whiletrailering couldcausethe
trailertocomeincontactwiththe
vehicle. Thevehiclecouldbe
damaged.Avoidmakingvery
sharpturnswhiletrailering.

DrivingOnGrades
Whenturningwithatrailer,make
widerturnsthannormalsothe
trailerwillnotstrikesoftshoulders,
curbs,roadsigns,treesorother
objects. Usetheturnsignalwellin
advanceandavoidjerkyorsudden
maneuvers.
Reducespeedandshifttoa
lowergearbeforestarting downa
longorsteepdowngrade. Ifthe
transmission isnotshifteddown,the
brakesmighthavetobeusedso
muchthattheywouldgethotandno
longerworkwell.
