theoillifesystemmightnotindicate
thatanoilchangeisnecessary   for
overayear.However,theengineoil
andfiltermustbechangedatleast
onceayearandatthistimethe
systemmustbereset.Yourdealer/
retailer hastrainedservicepeople
whowillperformthisworkusing
genuinepartsandresetthesystem.
Itisalsoimportant  tochecktheoil
regularly andkeepitattheproper
level.
HowtoResettheEngineOil
LifeSystem
WhentoChangeEngineOil
Resetthesystemwhenever  the
engineoilischangedsothatthe
systemcancalculate  thenext
engineoilchange.Toresetthe
system:
Thisvehiclehasacomputer   system
thatindicates whentochangethe
engineoilandfilter.Thisisbased
onenginerevolutions  andengine
temperature, andnotonmileage.
Basedondrivingconditions,  the
mileageatwhichanoilchangeis
indicated canvaryconsiderably.For
theoillifesystemtoworkproperly,
thesystemmustbereseteverytime
theoilischanged.
1. UsingtheDICMENUbutton
andthumbwheel ontheturn
signallever,display  “OilLife
Remaining”ontheDIC.See
DriverInformation Center(DIC)
on page 4‑29 andEngineOil
Messages onpage4‑36.
Ifthesystemiseverreset
accidentally,theoilmustbe
changedat5000km(3,000miles)
sincethelastoilchange.
Remembertoresettheoillife
systemwhenever theoilischanged.
Whenthesystemhascalculated
thatoillifehasbeendiminished,   it
indicates thatanoilchangeis
necessary.A“ChangeEngineOil
Soon”messagecomeson.See

Becarefulnottoresettheoil
