Iftheparkbrakestatuslightflashes
continuously,theEPBisonly
partially appliedorreleased,
EPBRelease
TheEPBcanbeappliedanytime
thevehicleisstopped.  TheEPBis
appliedbymomentarily  liftingupon
theEPBswitch.Oncefullyapplied,
theparkbrakestatuslightwillbe
on.Whilethebrakeisbeingapplied,
thestatuslampwillflashuntilfull
applyisreached.  Ifthelightdoes
notcomeon,orremainsflashing,
youneedtohavethevehicle
serviced. Donotdrivethevehicleif
theparkbrakestatuslightis
flashing. Seeyourdealer/retailer.
SeeBrakeSystemWarningLight
on page 4‑23 formoreinformation.
ToreleasetheEPB,placethe
ignition intheON/RUNposition,
applyandholdthebrakepedal,and
pushdownmomentarily  ontheEPB
switch.Ifyouattempttorelease
theEPBwithoutthebrakepedal
applied, achimewillsound,andthe
DICmessage“StepOnBraketo
ReleaseParkBrake”willbe
displayed. TheEPBisreleased
whentheparkbrakestatuslight
isoff.
orthereisaproblemwiththeEPB.
TheDICmessage“ServiceParking
Brake”willbedisplayed.  Ifthislight
flashescontinuously,releasethe
EPB,andattempttoapplyitagain.
Ifthislightcontinues  toflash,donot
drivethevehicle.  Seeyourdealer/
retailer.
Iftheparkbrakewarninglightison,
theEPBhasdetected  anerrorin
anothersystemandisoperating
withreducedfunctionality.Toapply
theEPBwhenthislightison,liftup
ontheEPBswitchandholditinthe
upposition. Fullapplication ofthe
parkingbrakebytheEPBsystem
maytakealongerperiodoftime
thannormalwhenthislightison.
Continue toholdtheswitchuntilthe
parkbrakestatuslightremainson.
Iftheparkbrakewarninglightison,
seeyourdealer/retailer.
Iftheparkbrakewarninglightison,
theEPBhasdetected  anerrorin
anothersystemandisoperating
withreducedfunctionality.To
releasetheEPBwhenthislightis
on,pushdownontheEPBswitch
andholditinthedownposition.
IftheEPBisappliedwhilethe
vehicleisinmotion,achimewill
sound,andtheDICmessage
“
ReleaseParkBrake”willbe
displayed. Thevehiclewill
decelerate aslongastheswitchis
heldintheupposition.   Releasing
theEPBswitchduringthe
deceleration willreleasetheparking
brake.Iftheswitchisheldintheup
position untilthevehiclecomestoa
stop,theEPBwillremainapplied.
IftheEPBfailstoapply,therear
wheelsshouldbeblockedto
preventvehiclemovement.
