onthewheel-mounting  surface.

Wheelnutsthatareimproperly   or
incorrectly tightened cancause
thewheelstobecomelooseor
comeoff.Thewheelnutsshould
betightened withatorquewrench
tothepropertorquespecification
afterreplacing. Followthetorque
specification supplied bythe
aftermarket manufacturer when
usingaccessory lockingwheel
nuts.SeeCapacities  and
Neveruseoilorgreaseonbolts
ornutsbecausethenutsmight
comeloose.Thevehicle's  wheel
couldfalloff,causingacrash.

Reinstall thewheelnuts.
Tighteneachnutbyhanduntil
thewheelisheldagainst
thehub.
16. Tightenthewheelnutsfirmlyin
acrisscross sequence, as
shown.
Specifications on page 11‑2for
original equipment wheelnut
torquespecifications.
15.
Lowerthevehiclebyturning
thejackhandle
counterclockwise.
17. Lowerthejackallthewayand
removethejackfromunderthe
vehicle.
Notice: Improperly tightened
wheelnutscanleadtobrake
pulsation androtordamage.To
avoidexpensive brakerepairs,
evenlytightenthewheelnutsin
thepropersequenceandtothe
propertorquespecification.  See
Capacities andSpecifications on
page 11‑2forthewheelnut
torquespecification.
18. Tightenthewheelnutsfirmly
withthewheelwrench.
