UNDERSTANDING THE FEATURES OF YOUR VEHICLE
SmartBeams — If Equipped
ToDeactivate
The SmartBeam system provid es increased forw ard light-
ing at night by autom ating high beam control throu gh
the use of a digital camera mounted on the insid e
rearview mirror. This camera detects vehicle specific light
and autom atically switches from high beam s to low
beam s until the approaching vehicle is out of view.
Perform either of the follow ing step s to deactivate the
SmartBeam system .

Pull the Multi-Function Lever tow ard s you to switch
the head lights from the HIGH BEAM to the LOW BEAM
position.

(A) to the ON position.
Rotate the head light switch clockw ise from the AUTO
ToActivate

Select “Autom atic High Beams — ON” with the
Electronic Vehicle Inform ation Center (EVIC). Refer to
EVIC — Personal Settings ” in Section 4 of this manu al
for details.
NOTE:
Broken, muddy, or obstru cted head lights and
taillights of vehicles in the field of view will cause
head lights to rem ain on longer (closer to the vehicle).
Also, dirt, film, and other obstru ctions on the wind shield
or camera lens will cause the system to function improp -
erly.

Daytime Running Lights (Canada Only)
The high beam head lights will come on as Daytim e
Running Lights whenever the ignition switch is on, the
head lights are off, and the parking brake is off. The
head light switch must be used for norm al night time
driving.
NOTE: This system will not activate until the vehicle is
at or above 25 mph (40 km/ h).
