Please  note  that  the TPMS  is not  a substitu  te for  prop er
tire  maintenance,   and  it  is the  driver s  resp onsibility  to
maintain  correct  tire pressu  re, even if und er-inflation   has
not reached   the level  to trigger  illumination   of the  TPMS
low  tire pressu re  telltale.

most  situ ations  the vehicle  will  drive  norm ally  and  will
not  requ ire tow ing.
The  Malfu nction  Ind icator  Light  flashes  to  alert  you  to
seriou s cond itions  that  could   lead  to immediate    loss of
power  or  severe  catalytic  converter  damage.   The vehicle
shou ld be serviced   as soon as  possible  if this occurs.  (See 4
page  295 for more  inform ation.)

VoltageLight
This  light  monitors   the  electrical   system  volt-
age.  The  light  shou ld turn   on  momentarily   as
the  engine  is started .  If the  light stays  on  or turns   on
while  driving,  it ind icates a problem  with  the charging
system . Immediate   service  shou ld be  obtained .

OilPressureWarningLight
This  light  show s low  engine   oil pressu  re. The
light   shou ld  turn   on  momentarily    when   the

MalfunctionIndicatorLight
engine  is  started . If  the light  turns   on  while  driving,
stop  the  vehicle   and  shu t off  the  engine   as soon   as
possible.  A  single  chim e will  sou nd  when   this  light
turns  on.
This  light   is  part   of  an  onboard    diagnostic
system  called  OBD  that  monitors   engine  and
autom atic  transm  ission  control   system s.  The
light   will  illuminate    when   the   key   is  in  the   ON
position  before  engine  start.  If the bulb  does not  come
on  when  turning   the  key from  OFF  to ON,  have  the
cond ition  checked  prom ptly.
Do  not  operate  the  vehicle  until   the  cause  is corrected  .
This light  does  not  show  how  much  oil is  in the  engine.
The engine  oil level must  be checked  using  the proced ure
show n in section  7. (See  page 298 for  more  inform ation.)
Certain   cond itions  such  as  a loose  or  missing   gas  cap,
poor   fuel  quality,   etc.  may   illuminate    the  light   after
engine  start.  The  vehicle  shou ld  be serviced   if the  light
