FluidLevelCheck
Regu lar autom atic transm ission fluid level checks are not
requ ired . For this reason the dipstick is omitted .
Thefluidlevelispresetatthefactoryanddoesnot
require adjustment under normal operating condi-
tions.Ifatransmissionfluidleakoccurs,visityour
authorizeddealerimmediately.Severedamagetothe
transmissionmayoccur.Yourauthorizeddealerhas
thepropertoolstoaccuratelyadjustthefluidlevel.
If you notice fluid loss or gear shift malfunction, have
you r authorized dealer check the transm ission fluid level.
CAUTION!
FluidandFilterChanges
Usingatransmissionfluidotherthanthemanufac-
turer’s recommended fluid may cause deterioration
intransmissionshiftqualityand/ortorqueconverter
shudder.Usingatransmissionfluidotherthanthat
recommended by the manufacturer will result in
morefrequentfluidandfilterchanges.Refertothe
Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine Parts section for
correctfluidtype.
Autom atic transm ission fluid and filter shou ld be
changed as follow s:
Norm al Usage — No change necessary
Severe Usage (fluid and filter) — Refer to Maintenance
Sched ule “B”
Severe Usage is defined as:
•
Police, taxi, limousine, commercial typ e operation, or
trailer tow ing where the vehicle is driven regularly for
more than 45 minu tes of continu ous operation.
If the transm ission is disassem bled for any reason, the
fluid and filter shou ld be changed .
