A  reset  featu re  is  available  to  allow   the  vehicle   to  be
driven  to  a dealer  for  service.  To reset  the  transm ission,
use  the follow ing  proced ure:
Have  the transm ission  checked  at you r authorized   dealer
as soon  as  possible.
If the problem  has  been momentary,   the transm  ission can
be reset  to  regain  all forw ard  gears.

Stop  the vehicle.
Move  the selector  lever  to  the PARK  position.
Turn  off the  engine.
PermanentTransmissionLimpHomeMode
Perm anent  Limp   Home   Mod e will  be  activated   if  the
transm ission  enters   tem porary  Limp  Home  Mod e three
times.  Follow the  reset proced ure  described  und er  Tem-
porary  Transm ission  Limp  Home  Mod ein  this section.
In  Perm anent  Limp  Home  Mod e,  PARK (P),  REVERSE
(R) and   NEUTRAL  (N)  will  continu e  to  operate.   SEC-
OND  gear will  operate  in the DRIVE  (D) shifter position.
The malfunction   ind icator  light  may  illuminate.
Wait approxim  ately  10 second s.
Restart  the  engine.

Move   the  shift   lever   to  the   desired   range.   If   the
problem   is  no   longer   detected ,  the   transm ission   will
retu rn to  norm al operation.
NOTE:
Even   if  the   transm ission   can   be  reset,   we
recom mend   that   you   visit   a  dealer    at  you r  earliest
possible  convenience.   Your  dealer  has  diagnostic   equ ip-
ment  to determ  ine if the  problem   could  recu r.
