the ESP/ BAS malfunction ind icator light comes on con-
tinu ously with the engine running, a malfunction has
been detected in either the ESP or the BAS system . If this
light stays illuminated , have the ESP and BAS checked at
you r authorized dealer as soon as possible.

BAScannotpreventthenaturallawsofphysicsfrom
acting on the vehicle, nor can it increase braking
efficiencybeyondthataffordedbytheconditionof
thevehiclebrakesandtiresorthetractionafforded.
The BAS cannot prevent accidents, including those
resulting from excessive speed in turns, following
anothervehicletooclosely,orhydroplaning.Onlya
safe, attentive, and skillful driver can prevent acci-
dents. The capabilities of a BAS-equipped vehicle
must never be exploited in a reckless or dangerous
mannerwhichcouldjeopardizetheuser’ssafetyor
thesafetyofothers.

ESPcannotpreventthenaturallawsofphysicsfrom
actingonthevehicle,norcanitincreasethetraction
afforded.TheESPcannotpreventaccidents,includ-
ingthoseresultingfromexcessivespeedinturns,or
hydroplaning. Only a safe, attentive, and skillful
driver can prevent accidents. The capabilities of an
ESP-equippedvehiclemustneverbeexploitedina
reckless or dangerous manner which could jeopar-
dizetheuser’ssafetyorthesafetyofothers.
Once the brake pedal is released , the BAS is deactivated .
The malfunction ind icator light for the ESP is
combined with BAS. The yellow ESP/ BAS
malfunction ind icator light and the yellow ESP
warning light in the instru ment cluster both
come on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON”
position. They shou ld go out with the engine running. If
