POWER STEERING
WARNING!
The stand ard power steering system will give you good
vehicle resp onse and increased ease of maneu verability
in tight spaces. The system will provid e mechanical
steering capability if power assist is lost.
Continued operation with reduced power steering
assistcouldposeasafetyrisktoyourselfandothers.
Serviceshouldbeobtainedassoonaspossible.
If for som e reason, the power assist is interru pted , it will
still be possible to steer you r vehicle. Und er these cond i-
tions you will observe a substantial increase in steering
effort, especially at very low vehicle speed s and during
parking maneu vers.
CAUTION!
Prolongoperationofthesteeringsystemattheend
ofthesteeringwheeltravelwillincreasethesteering
fluid temperature and should be avoided when
possible. Damage to the power steering pump may
occur.
NOTE: Increased noise levels at the end of the steering
wheel travel are consid ered norm al and does not ind icate
that there is a problem with the power steering system .
Upon initial start-u p in cold weather, the power
steering pump may make noise for a short period of
time. This is due to the cold, thick fluid in the steering
system . This noise shou ld be consid ered norm al, and
does not in any way damage the steering system .
