Driver and Right Front Passenger Supplemental
Restraint System (SRS) - Airbag
NOTE: The front airbags are certified to the Federal
regu lations that allow less forcefu l deploym ent.
The front airbags have a multistage inflator design. This 2
may allow the airbag to have different rates of inflation
that are based on collision severity and occupant size.
Also, the front passenger airbag is certified to the Federal
regu lations that define Occupant Classification (refer to
inform ation on Occupant Classification System in this
section).
FrontAirbagComponents
This vehicle has front airbags for both the driver and
front passenger as a supplement to the seat belt restraint
system s. The driver ’s airbag is mounted in the center of
the steering wheel. The passenger ’s front airbag is
mounted in the instru ment panel, above the glove com-
partm ent. The word s SRS AIRBAG are embossed on the
airbag covers.
