WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES

Connect   one  end  of  the  jumper  cable  to  the  rem ote
jump  start  positive   battery   post  (A) in  the  engine  com-
partm ent.  Connect  the other  end  of the sam e cable  to the
positive   term inal  of  the   booster   battery.   Refer  to  the
follow ing illustration   for  jump  starting  connections.

Connect  the  other  cable, first  to the  negative  term inal
of the booster  battery   and thentotheengineground(B)
of the vehicle with the discharged battery. Make  sure
you  have  a good  contact  on the  engine  grou nd . Refer to
the  follow ing illustration   for jump   starting  connections.

battery,  let the  engine  idle  a  few minu tes,  then  start  the
engine  in the  vehicle  with  the  discharged   battery.
Start  the  engine  in the  vehicle  which  has  the  booster

DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES

When  rem oving  the jumper   cables,  reverse  the above
Acceleration
sequ ence exactly.  Be carefu l of the moving   belts and  fan.
Rapid  acceleration   on  snow  covered , wet,  or  other  slip-
pery  surfaces   may  cause  the  rear  wheels  to  pull  errati-
cally  to the  right  or left.  This phenom  enon  occurs  when
there  is a difference  in the  surface  traction  und er the  rear
(driving)  wheels.
