Clu tch Interlock ing Ign ition System
Automatic Transmission
Manu al transm ission vehicles are equ ipped with a clutch
interlock safety featu re. With this featu re engaged , you
must depress the clutch pedal to allow cranking of the
engine. To tem porarily byp ass this safety featu re while
off-road driving, which will allow cranking the engine
withou t depressing the clutch, follow these step s:
Shifting from D (Drive) to P (Park) or R (Reverse) (or
from P or R to D) shou ld be done only after the
accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle is stop ped.
Be sure to keep you r foot on the brake when moving the
shift lever betw een these gears.

Locate the instru ment panel fuseblock behind the
glove compartm ent.

Put a 20 Amp fuse (optional) in the fuseblock cavity
(f20) marked as Transm ission.
NOTE: A fuse is provid ed in fuseblock cavity (f19)
marked as Spare.
3.
Be sure to re-engage the clutch interlock safety featu re
by follow ing these step s in reverse ord er when you are
finished off-road driving.
