Crankcase Emission Control System
WARN ING!
Prop er operation of this system depend s on freed om
from sticking or plugging due to deposits. As vehicle
mileage builds up, the PCV valve and passages may
accumulate deposits. If a valve is not working prop erly,
rep lace it with a new valve. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CLEAN THE OLD PCV VALVE!
The air clean er can provid e protection in the case of
engin e backfire. Do not rem ove the air clean er
unless it is necessary for rep air or main ten ance.
Make sure that no one is near the engin e compart-
ment before startin g the veh icle with the air clean er
rem oved . Failu re to do so can resu lt in seriou s
person al injury.
Check ventilation hose for ind ication of damage or
plugging deposits. Replace if necessary.
Fuel Filter
Maintenance-Free Battery
A plugged fuel filter can cause hard starting or limit the
speed at which a vehicle can be driven. Shou ld an
excessive amount of dirt accumulate in the fuel tank,
frequ ent rep lacem ent of the fuel filter which is mounted
in the fuel tank may be necessary.
Your vehicle is equ ipped with a maintenance-free battery.
You will never have to add water, nor is period ic main-
tenance requ ired .

Engine Air Cleaner Filter
Und er norm al driving cond itions, rep lace the air filter at
the intervals show n on “Maintenance Sched ule A.” If,
how ever, you drive the vehicle frequ ently und er dusty or
severe cond itions, the filter elem ent shou ld be insp ected
period ically and rep laced if necessary at the intervals
show n on “Maintenance Sched ule B.”
Battery posts, term inals, and related accessories con-
tain lead and lead compounds. Alw ays wash hands
after handlin g the battery.
