WARN ING!
Do not coast in N (Neutral) and never turn off the
ign ition to coast down a hill. These are unsafe
practices that lim it you r resp onse to changin g traffic
or road condition s. You migh t lose control of the
veh icle.
Overdrive (O/D)
For most city and highw ay driving. The transm ission
contains an electronically controlled Overd rive, and
will autom atically shift from D (Drive) to O/ D (Over-
drive) if the follow ing cond itions are present:

The transm ission selector is in D (Drive).
The O/ D OFF switch has not been activated .
Overd rive can be locked out by pressing the O/ D OFF
switch located on the instru ment panel. The O/ D OFF
ind icator light (on the switch) will illuminate to show
that the switch has been activated . When the ind icator
light is on, Overd rive is locked out. Pressing the switch a
second time restores the Overd rive function. The lockou t
featu re is useful when tow ing a trailer or carrying a
heavy load .
Vehicle speed is above approxim ately 30 mph (48
km/ h).
When frequ ent transm ission shifting occurs while using
Overd rive, such as when operating the vehicle und er
heavy load cond itions (for exam ple, in hilly terrain,
