Apply the brakes and shift the transm ission into P
The manu factu rer strongly recom mend s against the ad-
dition of any additives to the transm ission. The only
excep tion to this policy is the use of special dyes to aid in
detecting fluid leaks. The use of transm ission sealers
shou ld be avoid ed as they may adversely affect seals.

Hydraulic Clutch Fluid — Manual Transmission
The clutch hyd rau lic system is a sealed maintenance free
system . In the event of leakage or other malfunction, the
system must be rep laced .
At norm al operating tem peratu re (approxim ately 180° F
(82°
C), the fluid level is correct if it is in the HOT region
(cross-hatched area) on the oil level ind icator. The fluid
level ind icator shou ld be in the COLD region at 70° F (21°
C) fluid tem peratu re.
Manual Transmission
Selection of Lubrican t
If the fluid level is low, add sufficient fluid to bring to the
prop er level. Refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants
and Genu ine Parts for correct fluid typ e.
Use only manu factu rer’s recom mend ed manu al trans-
mission fluid, refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants,
and Genu ine Parts for correct fluid typ e.
Fluid is added throu gh the dipstick tube.
