Adding Coolan t
The cap shou ld be insp ected and cleaned if there is any
accumulation of foreign material on the sealing surfaces.
When adding coolant, a minim um solu tion of recom -
mend ed 50% ethylene glycol antifreeze coolant in water
shou ld be used . Use higher concentrations (not to exceed

if tem peratu res below -37°F (-38°C) are anticip ated .
The warn ing word s DO NOT OPEN HOT on the
coolin g system pressu re cap are a safety precau tion .
Never add coolan t when the engin e is overh eated .
Do not loosen or rem ove the cap to cool an over-
heated engin e. Heat causes pressu re to build up in
the coolin g system . To preven t scald ing or injury, do
not rem ove the pressu re cap while the system is hot
or under pressu re.
Use only high purity water such as distilled or deionized
water when mixing the water/ antifreeze solu tion. The
use of lower quality water will red uce the amount of
corrosion protection in the engine cooling system .
NOTE: Mixing coolant typ es will decrease the life of the
engine coolant and will requ ire more frequ ent engine
coolant changes.

the vehicle is operated .
Coolan t Level
The coolant bottle provid es a quick visu al method for
determ ining that the coolant level is adequ ate. The
coolant level must be at the FULL mark or above the
ADD mark on the bottle.
Coolin g System Pressu re Cap
The cap must be fully tightened to prevent loss of
coolant, and to insu re that coolant will retu rn to the
rad iator from the coolant reserve tank.
The rad iator norm ally rem ains completely full, so there is
not need to rem ove the rad iator cap unless checking for
coolant freeze point or rep lacing coolant. Advise you r
