Poin ts To Rem ember
NOTE: When the vehicle is stop ped after a few miles of
operation, you may observe vap or coming from the front
of the engine compartm ent. This is norm ally a resu lt of
moistu re from rain, snow, or high hu midity accumulat-
ing on the rad iator and being vap orized when the
therm ostat opens, allow ing hot coolant to enter the
rad iator.
•
Make sure that the rad iator and coolant bottle hoses
are not kinked or obstru cted .

resu lt in unsatisfactory cooling perform ance, poor gas
mileage, and increased emissions.
If an exam ination of you r engine compartm ent show s no
evid ence of rad iator or hose leaks, the vehicle may be
safely driven. The vap or will soon dissip ate.
Hoses and Vacuum/Vapor Harnesses
Insp ect surfaces of hoses and nylon tubing for evid ence
of heat and mechanical damage. Hard or soft spots,
brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and exces-
sive swelling ind icate deterioration of the rubber.
