If the trailer weigh s more than 1,000 lbs (454 kg)
load ed, it should have its own brak es and they
should be of adequate capacity. Failu re to do this
could lead to accelerated brak e lin ing wear, high er
brak e pedal effort, and lon ger stop ping distan ces.
Remember that everything put in or on the trailer adds to
the load on you r vehicle.
Warranty Requirements
The manu factu rer’s warranty will apply to vehicles used
to tow trailers for noncom mercial use, how ever the
follow ing cond itions must be met:

The “D” Overd rive range can be selected when tow -
ing. However, if frequ ent shifting occurs move the
shift lever to the next lower position to eliminate
excessive autom atic transm ission shifting. This action
will also red uce the possibility of transm ission over-
heating and provid e better engine braking. Refer to
“Transm ission Shifting” in this section for additional
inform ation.

trailer weights above 1,000 lbs (454 kg).

Follow the maintenance intervals in sched ule “B” for
changing the autom atic transm ission fluid and filter, if
you REGULARLY tow a trailer for more than 45
minu tes of continu ous operation.
