STARTING AND OPERATING
FUEL FILLER CAP (GAS CAP)
CAUTIO N!
The fuel cap is located on the left side of the vehicle. If the
fuel cap is lost or damaged , be sure the rep lacem ent cap
is for use with this vehicle.
Damage to the fuel system or emission control
system could resu lt from usin g an improp er fuel cap
(gas cap). A poorly fittin g cap could let impurities
into the fuel system . Also, a poorly fittin g after-
mark et cap can cause the MIL (Malfu nction Indica-
tor Ligh t) to illu minate, due to fuel vap ors escap ing
from the system .

Turn the engine off.
Rotate the fuel cap to the left to rem ove.
To rep lace the cap, insert it into the filler neck and
tighten the cap abou t 1/ 4 turn until you hear one click.
This is an ind ication that the cap is prop erly tightened .

Make sure that the fuel cap tether strap is not caught
und er the fuel cap.
