After extend ed operation in mud, sand or water, or
similar dirty cond itions, have you r brake drums, brake
linings, and axle joints insp ected and cleaned as soon as
possible. This will prevent any abrasive material from
causing excessive wear or unp red ictable braking action.
Under freq uent heavy-d uty drivin g condition s,
change all lubrican ts, and lubricate body compo-
nents and steerin g lin kage more often than in nor-
mal service to preven t excessive wear.
Follow ing off-road usage, completely insp ect the und er-
bod y of you r vehicle. Check tires, bod y stru cture, steer-
ing, suspension and exhau st system for damage. Check
thread ed fasteners for looseness, particu larly on the
chassis, drivetrain components, steering and suspension.
Retighten, if requ ired , to torqu e valu es specified in the
Service Manu al. Also check for accumulations of vegeta-
tion or bru sh that could becom e a fire hazard , or conceal
damage to fuel lines, brake hoses, axle pinion seals, and
prop eller shafts. Check air cond itioning drain tube on the
lower dash wall in the engine compartm ent for mud or
debris, and clean as requ ired . A plugged tube will
adversely affect air cond itioning perform ance.
