Althou gh you r vehicle may be equ ipped with a soft top
or optional hard top to give the occupants protection
from the weather, these top s do not offer stru ctural
protection in the event of an accident and do not change
the open-bod y characteristic of the vehicle. Even thou gh
you r vehicle has a sport bar and side bars for som e extra
protection, it is a tru ly open vehicle-there is no stru ctural
integrated top and it has low sides and a folding wind -
shield . Many of these vehicles do not have fully enclosed
hard doors.

Operating this vehicle at excessive speed s or while
intoxicated may resu lt in loss of control, collision with
other vehicles or objects, going off the road , or overtu rn-
ing, any of which may lead to seriou s injury or death.
Also, failu re to use stan dard seat belts subjects the
driver and passengers to a greater risk of being throw n
out of an open-bod y vehicle than out of a closed vehicle
in an accident which can resu lt in injury or death.
Failu re to use driver and passen ger seat belts provid ed
is a major cause of severe or fatal injury. In fact, the U.S.
governm ent notes that the universal use of existing seat
belts could cut the highw ay death toll by 10,000 or more
each year, and could red uce disabling injuries by 2
million annu ally. In a roll over crash, an unbelted person
is significantly more likely to die than a person wearing
a seal belt. Alw ays buckle up.
