MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES
EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The “Sched uled” maintenance services, listed in bold
typ e must be done at the times or mileages specified to
assu re the continu ed prop er functioning of the emission
control system . These, and all other maintenance services
inclu ded in this manu al, shou ld be done to provid e best
vehicle perform ance and reliability. More frequ ent main-
tenance may be need ed for vehicles in severe operating
cond itions such as dusty areas and very short trip
driving.

Excessive engine idling
Insp ection and service also shou ld be done any time a
malfunction is suspected .
NOTE: Maintenance, rep lacem ent, or rep air of the
emission control devices and system s on you r vehicle
may be perform ed by any autom otive rep air establish-
ment or ind ivid ual using any autom otive part which has
been certified pursu ant to U.S. EPA or, in the State of
California, California Air Resou rces Board regu lations.
• Short trip s of less than 10 miles (16.2 km)
