KEY-IN-IGNITION REMINDER

unlocked . During norm al operation, the Theft Alarm /
Immobilizer Light will come on for three second s imme-
diately after the ignition switch is turned on for a bulb
check. Afterw ard s, if the bulb rem ains on, this ind icates a 2
problem with the electronics.
NOTE: With the driver’s door open, and the key in the
ignition, both the power door locks and Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) will not function.
If the bulb begins to flash after the bulb check, this
ind icates that an invalid key has been used to start the
vehicle. Both of these cond itions will resu lt in the engine
being shu t off after two second s of running.
SENTRY KEYா — IF EQUIPPED
The Sentry Key Immobilizer System prevents unau tho-
rized operation of the vehicle by disabling the engine.
The system will shu t the engine off after two second s of
running if an invalid key is used to start the vehicle. This
system utilizes ignition keys, which have an electronic
chip (transp ond er) embed ded into them . Only keys that
have been program med to the vehicle can be used to start
and operate the vehicle.
Keep in mind that a key, which has not been pro-
gram med is also consid ered an invalid key even if it is
cut to fit the ignition lock cylind er for that vehicle.
If the Theft Alarm / Immobilizer Light comes on during
norm al vehicle operation, (the vehicle has been running
for longer than 10 second s), a fault has been detected in
the electronics and the vehicle shou ld be serviced as soon
as possible.
The Sentry Key Immobilizer System does not need to be
arm ed or activated . Operation of the system is autom atic
regard less of whether or not the vehicle is locked or
