ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) — IF

WARN ING!
The ABS provid es increased vehicle stability and brake
perform ance und er most braking cond itions. The system
autom atically “pumps” the brakes during severe braking
cond itions to prevent wheel lock-u p.

The ABS cannot preven t the natu ral law s of phys-
ics from actin g on the veh icle, nor can it increase
brak ing or steerin g efficien cy beyon d that af-
ford ed by the condition of the veh icle brak es and
tires or the traction afford ed.
WARN ING!
An ABS cannot preven t accid ents, including those
resu ltin g from excessive speed in turns, follow ing
anoth er veh icle too closely, or hydrop lan ing. Only
a safe, atten tive, and skillfu l driver can preven t
accid ents.
Pumping of the ABS will diminish their effective-
ness and may lead to an accid ent. Pumping makes
the stop ping distan ce lon ger. Just press firm ly on
you r brak e pedal when you need to slow down or
stop .
The capabilities of an ABS equipped veh icle must
never be exploited in a reck less or dangerou s
manner which could jeop ard ize the user’s safety
or the safety of oth ers.
