Press and release the EVIC button several times until
Com pass Varian ce
the EVIC displays the Personal Settings (Custom er Pro-
gram mable Featu res) menu .
Com pass Variance is the difference betw een magnetic
North and Geograp hic North. In som e areas of the
country, the difference betw een magnetic and geograp hic
North is great enou gh to introd uce som e compass error.
In ord er to ensu re compass accuracy, the compass vari-
ance shou ld be prop erly set accord ing to the variance
zone map for the vehicle’s current location. The compass
in you r vehicle will now autom atically compensate for
this difference.

Press and release the EVIC button several times until
“Calibrate Com pass (Yes)” is displayed . A long (longer
than two second s) EVIC button Press will place the
Com pass in calibration mode.

The “CAL” ind icator will come on continu ously in the
EVIC display to ind icate that the compass is now in the
calibration mode and that the vehicle can now be driven
to calibrate. Press the EVIC button from the ЉCalibrate
Com pass (Yes)Љ screen will exit the EVIC Custom er
Program mable featu res, and retu rn it to its norm al oper-
ating mode).
NOTE: Magnetic materials such as a laptop computer,
cell phone, and PDA’s (anything with a battery), shou ld
be kep t away from the top of the instru ment panel. This
is where the compass sensor is located .
5.
Drive the vehicle slow ly, und er 5 mph (8 km/ h),
completing one or more circles (in an area free from large
metal or metallic objects) until the “CAL” ind icator turns
off. The compass will now function norm ally.
