GEAR RANGES FOR THE FOUR-SPEED
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE
WARN ING!
DO NOT race the engine when shifting from PARK or
NEUTRAL positions into another gear range.
Uninten ded movem ent of a veh icle could injure
those in and near the veh icle. As with all veh icles,
you should never exit a veh icle while the engin e is
running. Before exitin g a veh icle, you should alw ays
shift the veh icle into PARK, rem ove the key from the
ign ition , and apply the park ing brak e. Once the key
is rem oved from the ign ition , the tran smission gear
selector lever is lock ed in the PARK position , secu r-
ing the veh icle again st unwanted movem ent. Furth er-
more, you should never leave child ren unatten ded
insid e a veh icle.
PARK
PARK supplements the parking brake by locking the
transm ission. The engine can be started in this range.
Never use PARK while the vehicle is in motion. Apply
the parking brake when leaving the vehicle in this range.
Alw ays apply the parking brake first, and then shift the
gear selector lever into the PARK position.
