TIRE ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Tires on the front and rear axles of vehicles operate at
different load s and perform different steering, driving,
and braking functions. For these reasons, they wear at
unequ al rates and tend to develop irregu lar wear pat-
terns.
Follow the recom mend ed tire rotation frequ ency for you r
typ e of driving found in the “Maintenance Sched ules”
Section of this manu al. More frequ ent rotation is perm is-
sible, if desired . The reason(s) for any rap id or unu sual
wear shou ld be corrected before rotating. The suggested
rotation method is the “forw ard -cross” show n in the
diagram below.
These effects can be red uced by timely rotation of the
tires. The benefits of rotation are especially worthw hile
with aggressive tread designs such as those on all-season
typ e tires. Rotation will increase tread life, help to main-
tain mud, snow, and wet traction levels and contribu te to
a smooth, quiet rid e.
