ThevehiclehasaComputer-Controlled Cranking
System.Thisfeatureassistsinstarting theengine
andprotects components. Iftheignition keyis
turnedtotheSTARTposition, andthenreleased
whentheenginebeginscranking, theenginewill
continue cranking forafewsecondsoruntilthe
vehiclestarts.Iftheenginedoesnotstartandthe
keyisheldinSTART,cranking willbestopped
after15secondstopreventcranking motor
damage.Topreventgeardamage,thissystemalso
prevents cranking iftheengineisalreadyrunning.
Enginecranking canbestoppedbyturningthe
ignition switchtotheACC/ACCESSORYor
LOCK/OFFposition.
2. Iftheenginedoesnotstartafter5‐10seconds,
especially inverycoldweather(below0°For
−18°C),itcouldbefloodedwithtoomuch
gasoline. Trypushingtheaccelerator pedalall
thewaytothefloorandholdingitthereasyou
holdthekeyinSTARTforuptoamaximumof
15seconds.Waitatleast15secondsbetween
eachtry,toallowthecranking motortocooldown.
Whentheenginestarts,letgoofthekeyand
accelerator.Ifthevehiclestartsbrieflybutthen
stopsagain,repeatthesesteps.Thisclearsthe
extragasoline fromtheengine.Donotracethe
engineimmediately afterstarting it.Operatethe
engineandtransmission gentlyuntiltheoilwarms
upandlubricates allmovingparts.
Notice: Cranking theengineforlongperiodsof
time,byreturning thekeytotheSTARTposition
immediately aftercrankinghasended,canoverheat
anddamagethecrankingmotor,anddrainthe
battery.Waitatleast15secondsbetweeneachtry,
toletthecrankingmotorcooldown.
Notice: Theengineisdesigned toworkwiththe
electronics inthevehicle. Ifyouaddelectrical
partsoraccessories, youcouldchangetheway
theengineoperates. Beforeaddingelectrical
equipment, checkwithyourdealer/retailer. Ifyou
donot,theenginemightnotperformproperly.
Anyresulting damagewouldnotbecoveredbythe
vehiclewarranty.
