CompassCalibration
Tocalibrate thecompass,usethefollowing procedure:
Thecompasscanbemanually calibrated. Onlycalibrate
thecompassinamagnetically cleanandsafelocation,
suchasanopenparkinglot,wheredrivingthevehicle
incircles isnotadanger.Itissuggested tocalibrate
awayfromtallbuildings, utilitywires,manholecovers,
orotherindustrial structures, ifpossible.
CompassCalibrationProcedure
1.
Beforecalibrating thecompass,makesurethe
compasszoneissettothevariance zoneinwhich
thevehicleislocated.See“CompassVariance
(Zone)Procedure”earlierinthissection.
Donotoperateanyswitches suchaswindow,
sunroof, climatecontrols, seats,etc.duringthe
calibration procedure.
IfCALshouldeverappearintheDICdisplay,the
compassshouldbecalibrated.
IftheDICdisplaydoesnotshowaheading, for
example, NforNorth,ortheheadingdoesnotchange
aftermakingturns,theremaybeastrongmagnetic field
interfering withthecompass.Suchinterference maybe
causedbyamagneticCBorcellphoneantennamount,
amagnetic emergency light,magnetic notepadholder,
oranyothermagnetic item.Turnoffthevehicle, move
themagnetic item,thenturnonthevehicleandcalibrate
thecompass.

Pressthevehicleinformation buttonuntil
PRESSVTOCALIBRATECOMPASSdisplays.
3. Presstheset/reset buttontostartthecompass
calibration.
4.
TheDICwilldisplayCALIBRATING:DRIVEIN
CIRCLES. Drivethevehicleintightcirclesatless
than5mph(8km/h)tocomplete thecalibration.
TheDICwilldisplayCALIBRATIONCOMPLETE
forafewsecondswhenthecalibration is
complete. TheDICdisplaywillthenreturntothe
previous menu.
