padsareneeded.Thesoundcancomeandgoorbe
heardallthetimethevehicleismoving,exceptwhen
applying thebrakepedalfirmly.

Seeyourdealer/retailer ifthebrakepedaldoesnot
returntonormalheight,orifthereisarapidincrease in
pedaltravel.Thiscouldbeasignthatbrakeservice
mightberequired.

Thebrakewearwarningsoundmeansthatsoon
thebrakeswillnotworkwell.Thatcouldleadto
anaccident. Whenthebrakewearwarningsound
isheard,havethevehicleserviced.
ReplacingBrakeSystemParts
Thebrakingsystemonavehicleiscomplex.Itsmany
partshavetobeoftopqualityandworkwelltogether if
thevehicleistohavereallygoodbraking. Thevehicle
wasdesigned andtestedwithtop-quality brakeparts.
Notice: Continuing todrivewithworn-outbrake
padscouldresultincostlybrakerepair.
Whenpartsofthebrakingsystemarereplaced —for
example, whenthebrakeliningsweardownandnew
onesareinstalled —besuretogetnewapproved
replacement parts.Ifthisisnotdone,thebrakesmight
notworkproperly.Forexample, ifsomeoneputsin
brakelinings thatarewrongforthevehicle, thebalance
betweenthefrontandrearbrakescanchange —forthe
worse.Thebrakingperformance expectedcanchange
inmanyotherwaysifthewrongreplacement brake
partsareinstalled.
Somedrivingconditions orclimates cancauseabrake
squealwhenthebrakesarefirstappliedorlightly
applied. Thisdoesnotmeansomething iswrongwith
thebrakes.
Properly torquedwheelnutsarenecessary tohelp
preventbrakepulsation. Whentiresarerotated,inspect
brakepadsforwearandevenlytightenwheelnuts
inthepropersequence totorquespecifications in
Capacities andSpecifications onpage7‑112.
