somesmokeanddustcomingfromtheventsinthe
deflated airbags. Airbaginflation doesnotpreventthe
driverfromseeingoutofthewindshield orbeingableto
steerthevehicle, nordoesitpreventpeoplefrom
leavingthevehicle.
Butairbagswouldnothelpinmanytypesofcollisions,
primarily becausetheoccupant's motionisnottoward

Whenanairbaginflates, theremaybedustinthe
air.Thisdustcouldcausebreathing problems for
peoplewithahistoryofasthmaorotherbreathing
trouble. Toavoidthis,everyone inthevehicle
shouldgetoutassoonasitissafetodoso.
Ifyouhavebreathing problems butcannotgetout
ofthevehicleafteranairbaginflates, thenget
freshairbyopeningawindoworadoor.Ifyou
experience breathing problems following anairbag
deployment, youshouldseekmedicalattention.
Airbagsshouldneverberegarded asanything more
thanasupplement tosafetybelts.

Afterthefrontalairbagsandseat-mounted sideimpact
airbagsinflate, theyquicklydeflate, soquicklythat
somepeoplemaynotevenrealizeanairbaginflated.
Roof-rail airbagsmaystillbeatleastpartially inflated
