Withthisfeature, improved vehiclerideandhandling is
provided underavarietyofpassenger andloading
conditions.
Theautomatic levelcontrolrearsuspension isavailable
onlight‐dutyvehicles andcomesasapartofthe
Autoride®suspension, ifequipped.
Thesystemisfullyautomatic andusesacomputer
controller tocontinuously monitorvehiclespeed,wheel
tobodyposition, lift/dive andsteering position ofthe
vehicle. Thecontroller thensendssignalstoeachshock
absorber toindependently adjustthedampinglevelto
providetheoptimumvehicleride.
Thistypeoflevelcontrolisfullyautomatic andwill
provideabetterleveledridingposition aswellasbetter
handling underavarietyofpassenger andloading
conditions. Anaircompressor connected totherear
shockswillraiseorlowertherearofthevehicleto
maintainpropervehicleheight.Thesystemisactivated
whentheignition keyisturnedtoON/RUNandwill
automatically adjustvehicleheightthereafter.The
systemmayexhaust(lowervehicleheight)forupto
tenminutesaftertheignition keyhasbeenturnedoff.
Youmayheartheaircompressor operating whenthe
heightisbeingadjusted.
Autoride alsointeracts withthetow/haul modethat,
whenactivated, willprovideadditional controlofthe
shockabsorbers. Thisadditional controlresultsinbetter
rideandhandling characteristics whenthevehicleis
loadedortowingatrailer.See“Tow/HaulMode”under
TowingaTraileron page 6‑42 formoreinformation.
Ifaweight‐distributing hitchisbeingused,itis
recommended toallowtheshockstoinflate, thereby
leveling thevehiclepriortoadjusting thehitch.
