Anemission systemmalfunction mightbecorrected by
doingthefollowing:

Makesurethefuelcapisfullyinstalled. SeeFilling
theTankon page 7‑10.Thediagnostic system
candetermine ifthefuelcaphasbeenleftoffor
improperly installed. Alooseormissingfuelcap
allowsfueltoevaporate intotheatmosphere. Afew
drivingtripswiththecapproperly installed should
turnthelightoff.
Topreventmoreseriousdamagetothevehicle:

Reducevehiclespeed.
Avoidhardaccelerations.
Avoidsteepuphillgrades.
Iftowingatrailer,reducetheamountofcargo
beinghauledassoonasitispossible.

Ifthevehiclehasbeendriventhroughadeep
puddleofwater,thevehicle's electrical system
mightbewet.Thecondition isusuallycorrected
whentheelectrical systemdriesout.Afewdriving
tripsshouldturnthelightoff.
Ifthelightcontinues toflash,whenitissafetodoso,
stopthevehicle. Findasafeplacetoparkthevehicle.
Turnthekeyoff,waitatleast10seconds,andrestart
theengine.Ifthelightisstillflashing, followthe
previous stepsandseeyourdealer/retailer forservice
assoonaspossible.
