ObstacleDetectionFeatures
Iftheliftgate encounters anobstacle duringapower
openorclosecycle,awarningchimewillsoundandthe
liftgate willautomatically reversedirection tothefull
closedoropenposition. Afterremoving theobstruction,
thepowerliftgate operation canbeusedagain.Ifthe
liftgate encounters multipleobstacles onthesame
powercycle,thepowerfunction willdeactivate, andyou
mustmanually openorclosetheliftgate. TheREAR
ACCESSOPENwarningmessageintheDriver
Information Center(DIC)willindicate thattheliftgate is
open.Afterremoving theobstructions, manuallyopen
theliftgate tothefullopenposition orclosetheliftgate
tothefullyclosedandlatchedposition. Theliftgate will
nowresumenormalpoweroperation.
l: Theliftgate canalsobeclosedbypressing the
powerliftgate buttonnexttotheliftgate latch.
Pressthebuttonasecondtimeduringliftgate operation
toreversethatoperation.
Thepowerliftgate maybetemporarily disabled under
extremetemperatures, orunderlowbattery conditions.
Ifthisoccurs,theliftgate canstillbeoperated manually.
Ifyoushiftthetransmission outofP(Park)whilethe
powerfunction isinprogress, theliftgate powerfunction
willcontinue tocompletion. Ifyoushiftthetransmission
outofP(Park)andaccelerate beforethepowerliftgate
latchesclosed,theliftgate mayreversetotheopen
position. Cargocouldfalloutofthevehicle. Always
makesurethepowerliftgate isclosedandlatched
beforeyoudriveaway.
Yourvehiclehaspinchsensorslocatedontheside
edgesoftheliftgate. Ifanobjectiscaughtbetweenthe
liftgate andthebodyandpressesagainstthissensor,
theliftgate willreversedirection andopenfully.The
liftgate willremainopenuntilitisactivated againor
closedmanually.Donotforcetheliftgate openorclosed
duringapowercycle.
Ifyoupoweropentheliftgate andtheliftgate support
strutshavelostpressure, thelightswillflashanda
chimewillsound.Theliftgate willstayopentemporarily,
thenslowlyclose.Seeyourdealer/retailer forservice
beforeusingtheliftgate.
